Pakistan: Senior TTP leader Khurasani killed in Afghanistan

Islamabad,  (UNI) A senior leader of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Khalid Balti alias Mohammad Khurasani, was killed in the eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan, a senior security official confirmed, Dawn reported on Tuesday.

However, details about the circumstances surrounding the killing were not clear, the official said.

According to the official Balti, had been the spokesperson for the TTP and had been involved in carrying out several attacks on the people and Pakistan’s security forces, adding that Balti had been visiting Kabul more frequently ever since the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan.

the official alleged that Balti had been trying to unite the various factions of the TTP and was also planning to carry out terrorist attacks with TTP chief Mufti Noor Wali Mehsud within Pakistan.

However, a spokesman for the Afghan government denied the killing of the senior TTP member and said that no such incident had taken place in their country.
