Aurangabad, (UNI) Aurangabad City District Congress president Mohammad Hisham Osmani on Monday accused the BJP was trying to garner sympathy votes for itself in the upcoming assembly elections in five states by raising the issue of security lapse during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Punjab, it was reported on Tuesday.
Mr Osmani told UNI, that the prime minister was not in danger in any way in Punjab. The Prime Minister has his own security arrangements. But a video of this incident has come to light, which shows the BJP workers chanting pro-Modi slogans on the bridge, just a short distance from the PM’s motorcade. That issue should also be dealt with seriously, he said
Punjab Chief Minister Channi has accused the BJP of trying to discredit the Congress government in Punjab.
He further said that the masses are now awake. People know how the BJP government at the center is ruining the country. The industries that the Congress has set up in the past 70 years have been put up for sale by the Modi government.
Corona pandemic has left millions without a job. Small business has come to a standstill. The issue of security of the Prime Minister is only being raised to divert the attention from these pressing issues facing the country, Mr Osmani asserted.
He alleged that the silent protest by the Aurangabad BJP in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Aurangabad is just a stunt and nothing else.
Mr Osmani has also demanded the resignation of Home Minister Amit Shah over the issue of security lapse of the Prime Minister in Punjab.
The people will tech the BJP a lesson in the forthcoming elections, he asserted, adding that in Punjab, the Prime Minister’s meeting was postponed due to lack of public attendance.
