Srinagar, April 10 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday claimed to have arrested four drug peddlers in Sumbal and Awantipora and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Acting on a specific information regarding movement of drug peddlers in Sumbal, in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district a police party laid a special naka at Arampora and arrested two persons.
The duo was identified as Shabir Ahmad Reshi, a resident of Bhat Mohalla Sumbal and Manzoor Ahmad Paray of Bazar Mohalla Sumbal. During the search 15 bottles of codeine phosphate were recovered from their possession.
In Awantipora, a police party established a checkpoint established at Datpora Reshipora intercepted two suspicious persons who were identified as Bilal Ahmad Fafoo and Umer Manzoor Sheikh, both residents of Habba Kadal Srinagar.
During the frisking 6 grams of heroin like substance were recovered from their possession. They have been arrested .
Case under relevant sections of law stands registered and further investigation has been initiated.
