Police arrests fraudster involved in selling fake Gondola Tickets in Gulmarg

Police on Friday arrested a fraudster involved in selling fake Gondola Cable Car tickets in Gulmarg in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said.


Police Station Gulmarg received a written complaint from Manager of Gulmarg Gondola Project wherein he stated that today, a ticket checker caught 11 tourists with a fake gondola tickets. On enquiry, the tourists stated that some tourist guide had sold them these tickets.


Police said during the course of investigation and the statement of tourists was recorded, a tourist guide identified as Mohamad Akhter Katari a resident of Bandi Bala Chandoosa was taken into custody and investigation was set into motion.


Police said it was revealed by the fraudsters that their modus operandi is to pre-book gondola tickets and then sell them to gullible tourists at exorbitant rates.
Police have urged the tourists to be aware of such fraudsters.


A case under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Gulmarg and investigation set in motion, police added.
