Prayer Leader Killed By Minor Son In South Kashmir: Police

Police on Saturday said they have arrested 14-year-old Mohsin Hameed Malik over the alleged murder of his father in Anantnag district of south Kashmir.

46-year-old Hameed Malik, who led prayers at a masjid in Bragam area of Dooru Shahbad, was found dead in a paddy field on February 9.

SP Anantnag Abdul Jabbar told newsmen during a presser at his office in Khanabal today that they boy has confessed to the crime.

He said a deep wound was found on the head of Sr. Malik and that they presumed he was attacked by an axe or a sharp-edged weapon. 

“Dooru Police had registered a case and during the investigation the son of the Imam was found the culprit who was arrested and put to sustained interrogation,” he claimed.

The accused, he said, admitted to having killed his father.

“He abhorred his father since childhood,” Jr. Malik told the interrogators.

“Mohsin found his father alone in the field and attacked him with an axe. Later, he cried and pretended that his father had been killed by unknown persons,” said Jabbar.

“It was a blind murder case but police solved it within three days,” he said, adding that an FIR vide number 15/2016 under section 302 has been registered in this regard.(Agencies)
