Owing to the closure of schools in Jammu and Kashmir, the government on Tuesday said community schools should be prioritized for the students, who are not able to enjoy the perks of online education.
Administrative Secretary to Government for School Education Department B K Singh has said, “The community school should be prioritized for those children who are not connected through online classes.”
“For the ownership of the initiative, a local Committee needs to be framed per community school comprising parents, Village Education Committee (VEC) members, School Management Committee (SMC) members and other prominent persons from the habitation for monitoring and support of the community school,” Singh said
“In view of rising trend in COVID-19 cases in JKUT, during closure of Schools in JKUT, attendance of staff in person shall be restricted to 50% only at any point of time on working days and time. All Heads of Institutions shall devise roasters to ensure presence of staff to ensure above such staffs, shall not be exempted from teh duties on account of this order, as needed by the District Disaster Management Authorities District Magistrates for official duties, reads the order
It is hereby ordered that, All academic activities in all schools having classes (up to class 12th) shall be carried out through blended learning from home through online & offline mode across ]KUT.
All teaching faculty shall facilitate their enrolled students, online classes/assignments (offline mode), and ensure no students shall remain without academic guidance/learning in a staggered manner, Standard Operation Procedures (SOPS) shall be followed in letter & sprit in addition to suggestions of District Disaster Management Authorities, The subject teachers shall ensure to reach out his/her students through online /offline mode and shall remain connected with schools administration for updations of academic progress.
The concerned HoS shall provide every support to subject teachers for ensuring uninterrupted academic activities, No class should be taken more than 40 Minutes.
Online classes should continue for the connected children through Learning, Management System and other digital platforms. The Community School should invariably function in the open area or ground where the students can sit almost 2 metres apart from each other. In case of non availability of such space, staggered schedule /Shift Timings and student rotation can be an option.
Teachers who have to travel a long distance for reaching their school can teach community school in proximity of her/his residence. In such cases, the teacher should register her/his name with the Zonal Education Office in case of Elementary School, Headmaster HS in case of High School and Principal in case of Higher Secondary School.
All students and Teachers should invariably wear masks and no one should be allowed without masks. Hand washing points with proper soap should be made available for the students and teachers. Everybody should wash hands frequently maintaining proper physical distance, Safe water, cleaning supplies and, wherever possible, establish or expand sex segregated toilets or latrines including provisions for menstrual hygiene management, it reads
In case of absence of washing stations, hand sanitizers with 60% alcohol be used as hand rub (for staff and older children who can safely use hand sanitizer). Touching of surfaces by the students and teachers in and around the area of the community school should be strictly prohibited. Strong surveillance should be put in place to avoid handshaking, embracing and coming closer than 2 meters by teachers and students.
Disinfecting, sanitizing and cleaning the Learning spaces & surfaces in convergence with the concerned department and local volunteers should be a daily affair. Personal Hygiene and hygiene of surroundings should be ensured. While coming and leaving school,students and teachers should maintain physical distance of at least 2 metres from each other and no student or teacher should. breach this distance rule either during the schooling or while coming or leaving the community school.
In all cases gathering or grouping should be avoided and everybody should come and leave school individually. Local community volunteers can be roped in to regulate in collaboration with school staff. Every student or Teacher should carry her/his own stationary and books and exchanging/sharing books notebooks ,pencils, pens and other items among students/teachers should be strictly prohibited it, further reads
