J&K Police on Thursday attached the immovable property of an absconding accused in Sopore sub district of Jammu and Kashmir in connection with a case registered under the Egress and Internal Movement Control Ordinance (E&IMCO) Act.
According to police, the property was attached in connection with a case registered at Police Station Panzalla Sopore. The attached property comprises land measuring 1 Kanal and 12.5 Marlas located in village Fidarpora Rafiabad. The land is recorded in the name of Khurshid Ahmad Dar a resident of Fidarpora.
Police said the accused has been evading legal proceedings for several years and is wanted in FIR No. 02/2008 registered under Sections 2/3 of the E&IMCO Act at Police Station Panzalla. As per the investigation, the accused is currently based in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and is allegedly involved in anti-national activities, including providing support to terrorist elements operating in the Kashmir Valley.
Police said that after completing the required legal procedures, proclamation proceedings under Section 87 of the Code of Criminal Procedure were initiated, following which the accused was declared a Proclaimed Offender by the competent court.
“Subsequently, in compliance with the orders of the Court, attachment proceedings under Section 88 CrPC were executed. The attachment was carried out in the presence of officials from the Revenue Department and independent witnesses, and all codal formalities were duly observed. Attachment notices were served and affixed at the site,” police said.
Police said the action is part of continued efforts to act against absconding accused and dismantle networks supporting militancy and unlawful activities.
