Property worth lakhs of rupees was destroyed when a fire broke out in a hardware and paint shop in Kangra town near the general bus stand around midnight last night.
Police sources told UNI that a fire broke out at midnight in a hardware and paint shop last night. When some passersby found smoke coming out of the big hardware and paint shop , ‘ Ashoka Trades’ on Dharamshala Road, just in the vicinity of the Kangra General Bus Stand, they informed the patrolling team of police. The local people raised an alarm, and the police and fire brigade were informed.
Fire tenders from Kangra, Nagrota Nagwan, and Dharamshala reached the spot and fought the flames. The entire shop was engulfed in flames, however, the fire tenders prevented the fire from further spreading. The belongings in theshop were totally destroyed in the fire.
RS Bali, Chairman of the Tourism Development Corporation, whose residence is near the spot, reached there. SDM Kangra and police forces reached the spot to control the mob gathered there and regulate traffic on the Dharamshala road.
Investigating officials of the police department said that the cause of the fire was not immediately known. They said that FSL officials will be visiting the spot, and after that, only the cause of the fire will be established.
