The Supreme Court has extended the deadline to Ayodhya panel till August 15 on Friday.
The court after hearing to the mediation panel agreed in which they sought the extension in the deadline to submit its report.
The bench compromising CJI Ranjan Gogoi and justice SA Bobde, DY Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and Abdul Nazeer heard the case in the morning today. This hearing lasted over for seven minutes in time. Prior to this, the mediation panel had submitted a report on May 7 in the court.
However, after the apex court had the hearing, it gave the panel more time till August 15. It ordered the mediators for finding the required optimum solution through negotiations among all those parties entitled to the case. CJI Ranjan Gogoi said, “The panel has asked for some more time, which we are willing to give it”. Also, he assured that the panel reports were positively showing progress in the case.
The Ayodha’s Ramjanbhoomi Babri-Masjid dispute was listed for hearing before the highest Constitution bench in SC today. It was probably expected to act according to the reports from its appointed mediation panel in the case. The court had earlier directed these counter appointed mediators to look for an optimum solution with mutual due to each party in the case.
The case has been pending before the court since last many years. Therefore, the bench had decided to discover negotiated and meaningful conclusions in an issue which is related to the masses of two major faiths in the country. This amplifying issue has been directly or indirectly somewhere denting the stature of India’s polity.
Hence, taking the country’s prestige into utmost consideration, the court had wanted the solutions to arrive beyond the media glare and coverage.
Subsequently, the media wasn’t allowed to report on the court proceedings. They were barred from knowing the details in progress. As, the apex court has decided that until the decisions are not on the table everything regarding the matter will be kept confidential.
What is dispute?
The dispute actually involves the spot in Ayodha where the 16th century Babri Masjid established by Mughal Rural Babar was demolished by Karsevakas on 6th December 1992.
Since then, this has become a very sensitive religious-political issue in itself between the two faiths.
The Masjid demolition had led country wide riots, fostered rage and hundreds were killed.
Meanwhile, the further reports regarding the news suggested that some members of Nirmohi and Ram Lalla committee were not feeling satisfactory about this. They say, “Deity Ram is the only king.” They believe the justice in the matter has been already done and need not to undergo any law and constitutional scrutiny. They say, “Ram temple must be built whatsoever may happen!”. This is their stance in the matter.
While as, on the other side the members of Muslim waqf board said they were completely satisfied. They said that they believe the panel will come up with the right solution to the problem.
