Contributing actively towards the national cause, the Rising Star Corps of Western Command has created 23 ponds in forward areas of Jammu, Samba, Kathua and Pathankot.

Defence spokesman said that the ponds were created as they will play an important role in increasing the availability of water, both on surface and sub-surface level.

Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav aims to boost people’s movement by focusing on critical areas of cultural and social development, adding he said, “the Government of India has launched mission Amrit Sarovar on April 24, 2022 with the overall aim to create a number of ponds thereby raising the Ground Water table.”

“This will also aid in motivating the masses to strive for water conservation and encourage optimal utilisation of soil excavated from the water bodies to boost infrastructure projects leading towards overall prosperity of masses,” he said.
