Moscow, March 12 (UNI/Sputnik) The Russian armed forces disabled 3,491 facilities of the Ukrainian military infrastructure as part of the special military operation in the country, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said on Saturday.

“In total, 3,491 facilities of Ukrainian military infrastructure were disabled during the operation. 123 unmanned aerial vehicles, 1,127 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 115 multiple rocket launchers, 423 field artillery guns and mortars, 934 units of special military vehicles were destroyed,” Konashenkov said.

The spokesman also noted that the Russian aviation hit 145 objects of the Ukrainian armed forces, including three Buk M-1 anti-aircraft missile systems, eight command posts and communication centers, five ammunition depots and fuel and lubricants, 78 accumulation points of military equipment.

Russian Defense Ministry spokesman also said that the Russian aerospace forces have shot down five unmanned aerial vehicles in Ukraine over the past 24 hours, including two Bayraktar vehicles and one Tochka-U tactical missile.

“Over the 24 hours, aviation and air defense of the Russian aerospace forces shot down five unmanned aerial vehicles in the air, two of them were Bayraktar TB-2 and one one of them was a tactical missile Tochka-U,” Konashenkov said.

On February 24, Russia began a special operation to demilitarize and “denazify” Ukraine, responding to calls for help from the Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics in countering the aggression of Ukrainian troops.

The Russian Defense Ministry said the special operation is targeting Ukrainian military infrastructure only and the civilian population is not in danger. Moscow has repeatedly stressed that it has no plans to occupy Ukraine.
