Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza have extended their winning streak to an amazing 35 matches with a semifinal victory in the women’s doubles draw of the Australian Open.

Top seeds Hingis and Mirza, who teamed up last March, beat 13th seeds Julia Goerges and Karolina Pliskova.

The matches lasted just 54 minutes and the scoreline read 6-1, 6-0. They will next face Czech seventh seeds Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka in the final to earn their eighth title on the trot.

The reigning Wimbledon and US Open champions were easily the dominant of the pairing on the court- winning 60 points to the German-Czech pair’s 33. They also won five break point chances while their opponents converted none of their four opportunities.

The tables though will turn for the Indo-Swiss pair as Sania and Martina will face each other across the net in the mixed doubles semifinal on Friday.

Sania is partnering Ivan Dodig in the event and is seeded first while Martina will take the court with Indian veteran Leander Paes.(Agencies)
