Srinagar, April 15 (UNI) A Sarpanch was shot dead by unidentified militants in Kashmir on Friday evening, officials said.
They said Sarpanch Manzoor Ahmad was shot at and critically wounded by militants at Goshbugh area of Pattan in Baramulla district.
“He was shifted to hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival,” they added.
The officials said the area has been cordoned to trace the attackers.
Attack on a Panchayat member in north Kashmir comes at a time when there have been a series of targeted attacks on migrant workers and local minorities in south Kashmir in the past few weeks.
