With the arrest of seven persons from various places in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, Police on Tuesday claimed to have solved the Pragati Maidan tunnel robbery case in the national capital.
Acting on a tip-off about the accused, the Delhi police constituted teams and conducted raids at various places in Delhi and Haryana, and arrested Usman Ali alis Kallu, Anuj Mishra and Kuldeep.
Similarly, other team arrested accused Irfan, who was driving a motorcycle on the day of incident and Sumit, who conspired and recceed along with the accused Usman. Another team arrested Pradeep and Amit.
The police said Usman Ali, resident of Burari, has been working as a courier boy for several years in the Chandni Chowk area and has knowledge of area regarding movement of cash at Kucha Ghasiram and Kucha Mahajani.
He allegedly hatched the conspiracy to rob businessmen who carry cash. He provided the crucial inputs and identified the target.
Two motorcycles with fake number plates and used in the commission of the crime, as also an amount of Rs 4.98 lakh were recovered from their possession, police said.
