Shaher-e-Khaas Residents Decry Lack Of Proper Transport Facilities

Residents and traders of various areas of Shaher-e-Khaas have decried lack of proper transport facilities. 

The residents said due to decline in flow of passengers buses and sumos, they face immense problems. 

“From past one year, there has been drastic reduction in passenger buses to Old City areas. As a result we face problem in travelling to other areas,” said Shahid Ahmad of Nowhatta. 

The traders also said lack of proper transport facilities has hit their business. “Traders in traditional markets like Maharaj Gunj, Zaina Kadal, Aali Kadal, Saraf Kadal and Rajouri Kadal area suffering due to lack of proper transport facilities,” said Nazir Ahmad Shah, president of All Kashmir Traders Federation Shahr-e-Khaas Zaina Kadal. 

Shah said the traders had several times taken up the matter with authorities “However there has been no action. Despite assurance, authorities have also failed to start sumo service from Batamaloo to Zaina Kadal. This has reduced flow of customers to Shaher-e-Khaas,” he said urging the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar to look into the matter.(Agencies)
