SI shot dead by unidentified miscreants in Firozabad

A 55-year-old Sub-Inspector (SI) was shot dead by unidentified miscreants in the Araon area of Firozabad district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Friday.

Police sources said that the incident took place on Thursday night when SI Dinesh Kumar Mishra, who was posted at Chandrapura police outpost, was returning after investigating a dowry murder case. “At a secluded place, motorcycle-borne, unidentified miscreants opened fire on Mishra,” they said.

Police sources said that Mishra, who sustained a bullet injury near his chest, slumped on the ground. “A youth, Dheeraj Sharma, who was accompanying Mishra, informed the police, after which the SI was admitted to the trauma centre of the medical college,” they said.

Police sources said that Mishra succumbed to injuries at the trauma centre. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ashish Tiwari has constituted three teams along with the Special Operations Group (SOG) to arrest the criminals.

Police sources said that while Mishra is a native of Sadahatpur village in Kannauj district, his family lives in Agra. “One of his daughters is also in the police force. He was promoted to SI seven months ago,” they said.

Meanwhile, the last rite of Mishra was performed with full honour.
