The Child Welfare Committee has asked Jammu and Kashmir police to lodge the case of minor Sumbal girl who was raped under the Prevention of Child Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act.
A letter was written to SHO Bandipora by CWC committee and reads that the case of minor girl falls under the same category of law and insists for the revealing of medical examination of the minor on immediate basis.
Meanwhile, the SIT has been constituted by the police for further investigations.
“We have written this letter to the police couple of days ago but as of yet we haven’t got any response from them. As per law, the police has to share the details of the medical report with the Child Welfare Committee.” member of CWC told media.
According to child rights expert age of the accused was the sole controversy in the case. He said, “Why aren’t police solving the puzzle and getting the age determination test of the accused done. It is not a lengthy process.”
The shameful act was allegedly done by a school dropout from Bandipora, Sumbal area. On May 8 he committed the heinous crime of rape against a toddler girl in Trigam village of Bandipora.
