Srinagar, April 16 (UNI) J&K’s Anti Corruption Bureau on Saturday trapped and arrested a supervisor of Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED), Srinagar for demanding and accepting bribe, the Bureau said in a statement.
It said they received a written complaint alleging that a Supervisor of UEED, Srinagar Imtiyaz Ahmad Ghulam is demanding Rs 8,000 from the complainant, a sub-contractor who was executing work on behalf of the contractor on an allotted work by UEED.
Upon receiving the instant complaint, a prima facie offence under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 was found made out.
Consequently, a case was registered at Police Station ACB Srinagar and investigation was taken up.
“During the course of investigation, a successful trap was laid and the supervisor UEED and was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe amount of Rs 8,000 from the complainant. He was arrested on the spot by the ACB team,” the Bureau said.
Further investigation into the case is on, it added.
