T-20 Police Premier League Inaugurated By Lt Governor Of UT Of J&K At Srinagar

On 20th September, Lt. Governor of UT of J&K inaugurated Police Premier League “PLAY FOR PEACE” and the first match was played today at Sher e Kashmir Cricket Stadium Srinagar.

The tournament is organized by Srinagar Police under Civic Action Program and the aim of the endeavor is to engage the budding talent of the district in cricket and to provide them a platform to polish their talent so their game is recognized and appreciated.

On this occasion, Lt Governor UT J&K interacted with the various teams and distributed

Cricket kits among them.

Lt Governor has appreciated the efforts put in by J&K Police and especially the hard work of Srinagar Police in engaging youth of the district in positive ways and better fields, so their energies are diverted in the right direction and put in the nation-building. On the occasion, DGP J&K Police in his address highlighted the role of Jammu and Kashmir in organizing such events for youth development and further stated that District Police Srinagar is also going to organize “Pedal for Peace”- cycle race for various categories followed by “Jashn e Dal” Program.

SSP Srinagar in his opening remarks, Introduced the gathering about the Policing activities in the District and the aim of the present PPL. He said “we are trying to provide a launching pad to the young and budding talent not only in Cricket but in other Sports and Skills also”, as we are striving hard for complete restoration of peace in the District and all such players become our peace ambassadors.

Lt. Governor was flanked by DGP J&K Police Dilbag Singh-IPS, ADGP Armed A.K Choudhary, ADGP Coordination (PHQ) Javid Mujtaba Gillani, ADGP Headquarters /Law & Order Abdul Gani Mir-IPS, ADGP CID R.R Swain-IPS, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar-IPS, IGP Headquarters (PHQ)  Garib Dass-IPS, IGP CRPF Madam Charu Sinha, DIG CKR Shri Suleman Choudary-IPS, SSP Srinagar Dr. M. Haseeb Mughal-JKPS, SP Headquarters Srinagar, All Zonal SSP and SDPO of District Srinagar.

16 teams have already registered in the District and the tournament has started today. The matches will be played on a knock out basis. There will two matches in a day. One in the morning and the other in the afternoon. The inaugural match was played between Maisuma XI versus R.R.C. Club Rawalpora. In the inaugural match, R. R. C. Club Rawalpora won by 7 runs.

Cricket lovers are appreciating the efforts of Srinagar Police for promoting the game and encouraging the youth of the City to be part of the change.
