Three members of a family were killed when a car overturned into a moat after being hit by a truck on a toll plaza in Fatehganj Paschimi area of Bareilly district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Tuesday.
Police sources said that Bindu, a resident of Patiala in Punjab, along with her husband Paramjeet Singh (45), sons Sarvjeet Singh (14), Ansh Singh (12) and cousin Gurpreet Singh had come to attend a marriage in her relative’s house on Sunday.
Sources said that on Monday night while the family was returning to Patiala, Gurpreet, who was driving the car, stopped the vehicle at the toll plaza to recharge the FASTag on Delhi national
highway.
“During this a truck coming from behind hit the car as a result it overturned in the moat,” they said.
Sources said that Paramjeet, his sons Sarvjeet and Ansh were killed in the incident.
“The car was pulled out with the help of the crane and the bodies were sent for post mortem examination,” they said.
Sources said that Gurpreet is a Sub-Inspector in Punjab Police.
