Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir’s top police officer Swayam Prakash Pani is on way to proceed on central deputation and set to join cabinet secretariat—Research Analysis Wing (RAW) in New Delhi.

 According to wire service—the government of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has relieved Pani from the post of IGP Armed Kashmir to join the new assignment. “Consequent upon the approval of the competent authority to the appointment of Mr. Swayam Prakash Pani, IGP Armed Kashmir to the grade of Director -I in the class executive cadre of the cabinet secretariat in Level -13 of the pay matrix , on deputation basis for a period of four years, w.e.f the date of assumption of the charge of the post, or until further orders , whichever is earlier, he is hereby relieved to enable to him to take up the new assignment,” reads the order issued by Principal Secretary Home , Shaleen Kabra

As per KNO, Pani was shifted as IGP Kashmir in the last week of December after holding the key position for 22 months. He had joined as the youngest IGP of J&K in February 2018 after serving as deputy inspector general of police in south Kashmir.

Pani has served in key positions, including DIG, south Kashmir range, senior superintendent of police, Kulgam and Kathua. He has also held position in the served in the Intelligence Bureau and National Investigation Agency (NIA).

With this development, the number of J&K cadre police officers who are on central deputation and inter-cadre has gone up to 16. Those on deputation includes DGP rank officers Navin Aggarwal and SM Sahai.

J&K cadre officers are on deputation with central agencies like Intelligence Bureau, Research and Analysis Wing, Central Bureau of Investigation, National Investigation Agency and different paramilitary forces including CRPF and BSF.
