Train climbs on platform in Mathura

 IN a freak incident the passengers have a narrow escape after an EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) train between Shakur Basti and Mathura climbed on a platform of Mathura Junction of North Central Railway here in Uttar Pradesh, official sources said here on Wednesday.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) said that Shakur Basti-Mathura EMU reached Mathura Junction at 10.50 pm on Tuesday night. “After all the passengers and loco staff got down from it, the train started moving on its and climbed onto platform number 2A. After moving a few meters it stopped on its own,” he said.

He said that movement of the trains on the line was affected due to damage to Over Head Equipment-Cantilever (OHE).

CPRO of North Central Railway Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay said that a high level inquiry will be conducted into the incident.
