Ankara, Feb 3 (UNI) Large-scale air strikes were launched by Turkey to hit the Kurdish militant groups in neighbouring Iraq and Syria, the media reported on Thursday.
Turkey’s defence ministry on Wednesday said the air strikes hit about 80 targets in northeastern Syria and northern Iraq. They included ammunition depots and training camps, NHK World reported.
According to Iraqi media, eight people killed while 17 people, including women and children injured in the attack.
Turkey has been fighting against the Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK in Iraq and Syrian Kurdish forces known as People’s Protection Units, or YPG, the NHK broadcaster said adding that tensions have been rising after three Turkish soldiers were killed in a December attack.
