Date:

Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan arrived in Jammu today to preside over the launch of the Viksit Krishi Abhiyan, a nationwide initiative aimed at transforming Indian agriculture and empowering farmers.

News agency KINS reported that the event took place in the border town of RS Pura, where the Minister also participated in a symbolic tree plantation drive, reinforcing the campaign’s commitment to sustainable farming and environmental responsibility.

As part of his “one tree every day” resolution, Minister Chouhan planted a sapling in RS Pura, continuing his pledge to promote green practices and ecological awareness. The initiative is part of the broader goals of Viksit Bharat, with agriculture being a critical pillar in the country’s development roadmap.

Joining him in the campaign were Union Minister of State in the PMO Dr. Jitendra Singh, Jammu MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, and several dignitaries and local officials.

The visit was marked by a warm welcome from local residents and farmers, who lined up to greet the Minister and express their support for the campaign. RS Pura, known for its rich agrarian heritage and proximity to the international border, was chosen strategically to highlight the government’s focus on uplifting remote and border farming communities.(KINS)
