UP: 12 injured as bus rams into tree

Twelve people were injured when a bus, in a bid to save a truck, rammed into a tree in the Rajepur area of Farrukhabad district here in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, police said.

In-charge of Rajepur police station Diwakar Prasad Saroj said that the incident took place early in the morning when the roadway bus, in a bid to avoid a collision with the truck coming from the opposite direction, rammed into a tree near Kutlupur village.

He said that the local police, along with the villagers, reached the spot after getting the information. “12 passengers, including the driver and conductor, sustained injuries and were initially taken to the community health centre,” he said.

Saroj said that nine persons, including driver Vikas Singh, conductor Naresh Mishra, and passengers Satyaveer, Ram Vilas, Manish, Prema, Shekhar Verma, and Nitin, who sustained serious injuries, have been admitted to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.

District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar Singh, along with Superintendent of Police (SP) Vikas Kumar alongwith other officers, visited the hospital and inquired about the health of the injured. They directed the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to ensure proper treatment of the injured.
