Sixteen people have been arrested in connection with the murder of five members of a family, including a couple, their two daughters and a son, were killed over land dispute in Rudrapur area of Deoria district here in Uttar Pradesh, police said here on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met with Anmol Dubey, a child who was injured in the incident, at BRD Medical College. He directed the doctors to provide the best treatment to the child.
It may be noted that Satya Prakash, his wife Kiran, daughters Saloni, Nandini, sons Gandhi Dubey were attacked and killed in Lehra hamlet of Fatehpur village on Monday after a former Zila Panchayat member Prem Yadav was murdered on Monday. Satya Prakash’s son Anmol was seriously injured in the incident and is admitted to BRD medical college in Gorakhpur.
In-charge of Rudrapur police station Naveen Singh said that on the complaint of Satya Prakash’s daughter a case was lodged against 27 named and around 40 to 50 unnamed people on charges of murder, rioting and attempt to murder.
He said that 16 people have been arrested and further legal action was being taken. “A cross FIR has been lodged by the family of former Zila Panchayat member Prem Yadav against five persons and the matter is being investigated,” he said.
It may be noted that 14 people were taken into custody after six persons, including five members of a family, were killed over the land dispute in Rudrapur on Monday. Former Zila Panchayat member Prem Yadav (40) was having an old land dispute with Satya Prakash Dubey, a resident of the same village.
On Monday morning the dispute escalated when Prem Yadav went to the house of Satya Prakash and the former was killed with sharp-edged weapons. After Prem Yadav’s murder his family members and supporters attacked Satya Prakash’s house.
Satya Prakash, his wife Kiran, daughters Saloni, Nandini, sons Gandhi Dubey and Anmol were seriously injured. The injured were taken to the medical college where Satya Prakash, Kiran, Saloni, Nandini and Gandhi died. Anmol was referred to Gorakhpur Medical College in a serious condition.
On the directives of CM Yogi, Principal Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad along with Special Director General of Police (Crime) Prashant Kumar visited the spot and inquired about the incident.
Taking cognizance of the incident Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had directed the Commissioner and IG to take stern action in the matter.
