UP: 4 killed, several injured as bus rams into stationary truck

Four persons were killed and several others were injured when a bus carrying pilgrims from Bihar rammed into a stationary truck in Baresar area of Ghazipur district here in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, police sources said here.

Police sources said that a group of 36 pilgrims from Vikramganj in Bihar had gone to pay obeisance at Lord Ram temple in Ayodhya. “On Monday morning around 5 am while the pilgrims were returning the private bus in which they were travelling rammed into the stationary truck near Musepur village on Purvanchal expressway,” they said.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Balwant Chaudhary said that while 11 injured have been admitted to district hospital in Mau, 12 others have been sent to Ghazipur district hospital. “The deceased have been identified as bus driver Ram Niwas (45), Kamla Devi (65), Vinod Singh and Sunita Singh,” he said.
