A farmer was shot dead by unidentified persons and his body was recovered in a car in Baraut area of Baghpat district here in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, police sources said here.
Police sources said Amit Kumar (38), a resident of Badarkha village, left his house on Monday afternoon in connection with some work and did not return till late night. “When Amit’s father Omveer along with some farmers reached his farm on Tuesday morning he found his son’s car parked there,” they said.
Police sources said that when Omveer looked inside the car he found Amit’s body lying in pool of blood. “Preliminary inquiry revealed that Amit was shot in his temple,” they said.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Yuvraj Singh said efforts were being made to identify the assailants. “The body has been sent for post mortem examination,” he said.
