Four children drowned in a pit filled with water in Gajraula area of Amroha district here in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, police sources said here.
Police sources said that one Rajab Ali owns a brick kiln in Nauner village where 20 to 25 families from Bihar work on daily wages. “The labourers have made huts near the brick kiln where their families live. The brick kiln owner had recently got pits dug near the huts,” they said.
Police sources said that on Friday morning four children identified as Saurabh (8), Ajit (7), Sonali (7) and Neha (7) fell in one a pit which was filled with water and drowned. “When Neha’s father Jhagdu raised the alarm the children were taken out of the pit and taken to the hospital where doctors declared them dead,” they said.
