UP: Shopkeeper shot dead over payment

A shopkeeper was shot dead by two unidentified persons allegedly over a dispute related to payment in the Izzat Nagar area of Bareilly here in Uttar Pradesh, a police officer said here on Thursday.


Superintendent of Police (City) Rahul Bhati said that two persons went to an eatery near Bareilly Development Authority (BDA) office on Wednesday night and consumed Kebabs. “When shopkeeper Nasir Ahmed demanded money the miscreants created a dispute over the quality of the item served,” he said.


He said that when Nasir pressed them to pay for the items the miscreants shot him and the shopkeeper died on the spot. “The miscreants later escaped in a SUV. When traced it was revealed the SUV was registered in Kashipur in Uttarakhand,” he said.


Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prabhakar Chaudhary inspected the spot and directed to arrest the miscreants at the earliest.
