Six persons were killed and five others injured in a head-on collision between an SUV and a truck in the Raipura area of the Chitrakoot district here in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, police sources said.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over this accident.
Police sources said that the incident took place at around 5:30 in the morning when the SUV collided with the truck.
“Nanhe (65), Hariram (45), Mohan (45), Ramu (45), Mangana (65), and Ramswaroop Yadav were killed in the incident,” they said.
Police sources said that Jamuna (42), his wife Phula (40), sons Raj Ahirwar (18), Akash (15), and an unidentified person were injured in the incident.
District Magistrate Shivsharanappa and Superintendent of Police Arun Singh immediately reached the spot and the district hospital.
Divisional Commissioner Chitrakoot Dham Mandal Banda Balkrishna Tripathi and Deputy Inspector General of Police Ajay Kumar Singh reached Chitrakoot and enquired about the condition of the admitted patients.
