Three members of a family were killed and two children injured when a car rammed into a stationary truck in the Khiron area of Rae Bareli district in Uttar Pradesh, a police officer said on Saturday.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mahipal Pathak said that the incident took place late on Friday night when the car rammed into the stationary truck near Isauli.
“The police reached the spot after being informed by the villagers, after which the injured were taken to the community health centre,” he said.
He said that Kalpana Singh (42), a resident of Salon, and her two sons Vinay Pratap Singh (22) and Abhay Pratap Singh (26) were declared dead at the CHC.
“Abhay’s son Gaurav (4) and daughter Garima (6) were seriously injured in the incident and have been referred to the district hospital,” they said.
The DSP said that the bodies have been sent for postmortem examination. “The incident took place when the victims were returning from Unnao district after attending some function,” he said.
