UP: Two killed, 7 injured as pickup collides with trolley

 Two persons were killed and seven others were injured as a pickup vehicle collided with a trolley in Fakharpur area of Bahraich district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Wednesday.

Police sources said that some people from Shivrajpur village had gone to book DJ for immersion of idol of Goddess Durga on Tuesday. “While they were returning back with DJ late at night the pickup van in which they were travelling collided with the trolley on Lucknow-Bahraich road,” they said.

Police sources said that the pickup driver Altaf alias Monu died on the spot in the incident. “The injured were taken to the community health center from where they were referred to the district hospital in a serious condition,” they said.

Police sources said that one of the injured Mithilesh (18) succumbed to injuries at the district hospital. “Narendra (17), Naimish Kumar (2), Ram Niwas (37) Shiv Kumar (15), Vishal (13), Neeraj and Shivam are being treated at the district hospital. The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination,” they said.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Prashant Verma visited the district hospital and inquired about the health of the injured.
