Says some people spreading rumours to disrupt peace

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Saturday said that it is going to act tough against the people involved in rumour mongering.
According to the wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan said that the people whether in Srinagar or Anantnag are spreading rumours from last couple of days.
“It has come into my notice that rumour mongering is going on and some people are trying to generate scare among people by spreading rumours,” he said, adding that he has told in very unambiguous and unequivocal tone that anyone found in spreading rumours will be dealt with strictly.
“Those involved in rumour mongering are spreading rumours with an intention to disturb and disrupt peace,” he said.
Khan further stated that he has instructed police, agencies, Deputy Commissioners (DC) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSP) that anyone found involved in rumour mongering should be dealt with strictly.
Pertinently, rumours about re-imposition of curfew and other things were doing rounds from last couple of days, creating panic among the people.
Pertinently, the reports quoting a top police official said that two persons involved in rumour mongering were booked under Public Safety Act (PSA).
