West Indies beat Ireland by 24 runs in first ODI

Kingston, (UNI) West Indies beat Ireland by 24 runs in the first One-Day International against Ireland here on Saturday, it was reported on Sunday.

Batting first West Indies posted an impressive total of 269 in 485 overs. The highlight of their innings was a solid 155-run partnership for the fifth wicket stand between Sharmarh Brooks (93, 89b, 9x4s,3x6s) and Kieron Pollard (69, 66b, 4x4s, 4x6s). They carried their total to 217 for 5 from 4-62.

In reply Ireland could mustered 249 all out in 49.1 overs. After the fall of their first wicket at one Andrew Balbirnie (71) and Harry Tector (53) were associated for 103 runs partnership for second wickets, Andy McBrine retired not out 34,
