New Delhi, March 14 (UNI) BJP MP from Jammu, Jugal Kishore Sharma, told the Lok Sabha today that post abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, all the stalled projects of the erstwhile state are being completed, new ones are being taken up and Jammu region is getting its share of development, which was not the case earlier.

Speaking in the House on the debate on the budget for Jammu and Kashmir presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, he said that prior to abrogation of 370, there was a lot of misuse of powers under the cover of the article, which gave special status to J&K. “Today the state is going through new development. BDC (Block Development Council) elections have been held, which has given people their rights.

Panchayats are now deciding on the progress of villages, and the old government influence has gone,” he said, adding that the J&K administration has done “impressive work” to help during the coronavirus wave, including providing free rations. He also said the state is getting its own AIIMS, IIM, ring road, and Jammu Airport.

“Things are moving forward at a fast pace,” he said, adding that people of Jammu are happy as they feel there is progress and they are not being deprived. He added that a lot of projects are being undertaken under Lt Gov Manoj Sinha, including beautification of the state.

Sharma said that electricity and water is being provided, work is going on to set up model villages, the disabled are being provided special tri-cycles, and work is going on to boost industries in the state. He urged that people employed on ad hoc basis in the UT be regularised.

Sharma also said that with implementation of the ceasefire, people in the border villages are happy as they are now able to till their lands and live a normal life. He added that the delimitation process would provide more rights to the people.
