11 drug peddlers detained under PSA in Kupwara so far: Police

Jammu and Kashmir Police in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district have so far detained 11 individuals involved in drug peddling under Public Safety Act (PSA).

Pertinently, Kupwara district in recent years has seen a gradual increase in illegal drug peddling cases.

In this regard, Police and Army have tightened the noose against the drug peddlers and smugglers.

Sharing details, Kupwara police as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) informed that 11 individuals belonging to different places of the district have been booked under PSA (NDPS-PIT) so far.

Police said that following their unrelenting and incorrigible involvement in drugs trafficking in the district, they were booked under PSA.

11 individuals include Syed Azhar Ul Haq a resident of Kachama Kralpora, Mohd Rafiq Hajam a resident of Keran Payeen, Asif Ahmad Khan a resident of Gudsana Hyhama, Mumtaz Ahmad Khan a resident of Halmatpora Kupwara, Talib Ahmad Shah a resident of Hakarpora Awoora, Ahmad Hayat Mir a resident of Darpora Lalpora, Bilal Ahmad Ganaie a resident of Gugloosa, Nisar Ahmad Khan a resident of Hyhama Kupwara, Bazil Ahmad Mir a resident of Khurhama Kupwara, Abdul Majeed Kumar a resident of Drugmulla and Aftab Hussain Shah a resident of Bhadarkote Karnah.

Police also said that these 11 drug peddlers were detained and lodged under PSA (NDPS-PIT).

Police further informed that dossiers in respect of some more identified drug peddlers are being prepared for their detention under PSA
