14 injured in Iranian rocket attack on Israel: Medical Service

Fourteen people have suffered injuries in an Iranian rocket attack on Tel Aviv, with an 11-year-old girl in serious condition, Israel’s Magen David Adom (MDA), national emergency medical, disaster, ambulance and blood bank service, said on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, air raid sirens sounded twice in Tel Aviv and other areas. A Sputnik correspondent reported over 10 explosions across the city, accompanied by air defense activity. The Israeli military confirmed Iran had fired rockets toward the Jewish state.

“Following missile fire toward the State of Israel, 14 casualties: an 11-year-old girl in serious condition; a 36-year-old woman and 13-year-old boy in moderate condition; 11 in light condition. All being treated and evacuated,” the statement read.

Israeli police said rocket debris had fallen in the Tel Aviv area. Several casualties have been confirmed so far. Police and rescue teams are currently securing the impact sites.

Iran has been striking Israeli territory and US military targets in the Middle East in response to a joint military operation launched by the United States and Israel on February 28. The first day of military action saw Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei killed and a girls’ school in southern Iran bombed. Iran puts the death toll at over 1,300.
