2 ‘hybrid’ militants arrested in Kashmir

Srinagar, May7 (UNI) Two suspected “hybrid” militants of Hizbul Mujahideen were arrested in Kashmir’s Bandipora district, the police said on Saturday evening.

The two have been identified as Abid Ali and Faisal Hassan Parray, both residents of Herpora Achan Pulwama. Police said the arrests were made on a specific input regarding movement of militants from Bandipora to Srinagar. A police spokesperson said, “A joint checkpoint was established by Police, Army (13RR) & CRPF (3rd BN) near Wullar Vantage Aragam.

While conducting search of pedestrians & vehicles, two individuals were observed moving suspiciously in an Alto Car, who tried to conceal their identity on seeing the Naka party. On being challenged, the suspicious persons tried to break the checkpoint and were tactfully apprehended.

“During search, incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including an AK-47 rifle, two magazines with 30 live rounds, a pistol, a magazine with four live rounds and four pistol fired cases were recovered. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.”

A case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station and further investigation is in progress, he added. The “hybrid” militants are not listed as ultras but they carry out a strikes and then slip back into the routine life.
