Three Palestinians were killed and 40 others were injured early Tuesday in clashes with the Israeli soldiers in the northern West Bank city of Nablus, Palestinian medics and eyewitnesses said.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said 10 injured people are in serious conditions and had been sent to the Nablus Hospital for medical treatment.
Eyewitnesses said the clashes broke out between Palestinian gunmen and Israeli special forces who stormed at predawn the old city of Nablus hunting for wanted Palestinians over their suspected involvement in carrying out attacks against Israel.
The Israeli police said in a statement that Israeli forces encircled the home of Ibrahim al-Nabulsi, wanted by Israel for carrying out a series of shooting attacks in the West Bank this year, in the old city of Nablus.
In a separate statement, the Israeli military said its troops traded fire with “several terrorists” inside al-Nabulsi’s home, killing three Palestinian gunmen, including al-Nabulsi.
The PRCS said that Israeli soldiers even opened fire at the Palestinian ambulances and prevented medical teams from entering the area to evacuate the victims.
