Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) official Sangli division arrested Friday night, an executive engineer of Takari-Mhaishal irrigation department, Warnali of this district and a building contractor, for accepting Rs 1,00,000 from the complainant as bribe for giving a work order of a online tender.
Arrested persons identified as Surykant Maruti Nalvade (52), executive engineer of Takari-Mhaishal irrigation department and resident in the city while building contractor Rahul Shivaji Kanegaonkar (37).
In a ACB press release, which circulated late in the night, complainant, who got a tender on on line to provide labourers for internal works at Warnali Vasahat in Warnali, met Mr Nalavade and requested to give a work order in early, who demanded Rs 1,00,000 for it and told complainant to give amount to building contractor Mr Kanegaonkar.
Later complainant informed this to ACB officers , who laid a trap at Sahyadri Construction office of Mr Kanegaonkar and arrested him (Mr Kanegaonkar) red handed while accepting Rs 1,00,000 from the complainant as bribe on behalf of Mr Nalavade.
ACB officials registered complaints against Mr Kanegaonkar for accepting bribe and against Mr Nalavade for demanding the bribe under the anti corruption act in Sanjaynagar police station of the city
