The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday arrested another doctor – an alleged key accused in connection with last month’s Delhi bomb blast case.
Dr. Bilal Naseer Malla, a resident of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rafiabad area in Baramulla district, was arrested from Delhi in connection with Red Fort bomb blast case.
Malla, is the eighth accused in the case — including four doctors — to be arrested in the case. Official sources said that he was also working in the Al-Falah University in Haryana’s Faridabad district.
NIA said that they found Malla involved in the conspiracy behind the suicide terror bombing that killed 15 persons and injured over 30 others in the Red Fort area on November 10.
As per NIA investigations, Malla had knowingly harboured the suicide bomber and fellow doctor Umar Un Nabi — who detonated his car near the Red Fort — by providing him logistical support.
He is also accused of destruction of evidence related to the terrorist attack, the NIA said.
NIA said they are continuing with its investigation into the conspiracy behind the deadly terror act. The anti-terror agency is working closely with various central and state agencies to unravel all the threads of the conspiracy.
Earlier in the day, the NIA carried out searches in a forested area of Hatmura in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district as part of its probe into the Red Fort blast.
Officials said that NIA teams, assisted by Police and CRPF, brought along two accused — Dr Adeel Rather and Jasir Bilal Wani — to the Mattan forest area after they reportedly disclosed the presence of suspected hideouts used by the module.
The forest search was part of efforts to trace the module’s movements, logistics, and possible hideouts in south Kashmir.
The Hatmura search followed a series of simultaneous raids at eight locations across Kashmir and one in Lucknow last week. These raids targeted premises linked to individuals associated with the terror module accused of carrying out the November 10 Red Fort blast, which killed 15 people and injured 32.
