Army Opens Women Empowerment Centre at Durbal

In its endeavour to full fill the long pending popular request of the civil population, especially the women folk of Hanzik, Durbal and Hajibagh, the local RR unit of Zainakote under Chinar Corps opened an extension at Durbal of the Women Empowerment Centre (WEC), Sharifabad Garrison.

The Centre will train two batches of 40 local women in embroidery and stitching.  This will empower the trainees to establish their own independent units, thereby becoming bread winners for their families.  This extension centre will enable many more women of the area to make use of the facilities already being provided at Sharifabad.

The facility was inaugurated by Mrs Meera Mistry, wife of Maj Gen Asit Mistry, SM, VSM, GoC of Sharifabad Force HQ. On the occasion the others who were present were Sector Commander, Hyderbegh, Brig Alok Naresh all local activist Mr SMH Rizvi, Syed Abbas Rizvi apart from the instructor and fresh trainees of the newly opened centre.
