Manta suffered gunshot wounds on Wednesday during a joint cordon and search operation in village Washran.
He was evacuated by helicopter to the Army’s 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar. He breathed his last on October 27.
A local militant of the Lashkar-e-Taiba was arrested during the operation.
Manta joined the Army in 2014 and belonged to Village Gaunth of Kupvi Tehsil in Shimla. He is survived by his wife.
The mortal remains of Manta are being taken for last rites to his native place.
