CM Omar Abdullah demands time-bound, transparent probe into ‘death of Jammu youth’

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and MLA from Jammu, RS Pathania, has hit out at Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, accusing him of taking a contradictory stance on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir post-August 5, 2019.

Reacting to Omar’s recent remarks on a private channel, Pathania said that while the CM acknowledged the improved security atmosphere and the fight against terrorism, he simultaneously attempted to raise issues like statehood and what he termed as “dual control.”

“On one hand, he appreciates the steps taken after August 5, 2019, in curbing terrorism. On the other, he tries to make a controversy out of non-issues like statehood and dual powers,” Pathania said according to news agency KINS, adding that Omar’s criticism of the central government was misplaced.

Pathania further alleged that Omar Abdullah failed to govern effectively when in power and is attempting to shift blame. “He is not able to run his own government properly, and now he is blaming the Centre,” the BJP MLA remarked.

Calling for a constructive approach, Pathania urged the NC leader to play a “positive and pragmatic” role in the region’s progress instead of engaging in what he described as “unnecessary political rhetoric.” (KINS)
