BRTF holds cleanliness drive in Kashmir under Swachhata Hi Sewa campaign

As part of the nationwide ” Swachhata Hi Sewa” campaign, headquarters of 32 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) and its allied units conducted an extensive cleanliness drive across various locations in the Kashmir Valley, officials said.

The initiative, which aimed to promote cleanliness and raise awareness among tourists and local communities, was successfully carried out by the personnel of 32 BRTF, 56 RCC, 109 RCC, and 122 RCC.

The officials said mass cleanliness drive activities were conducted at the headquarters of 32 BRTF in Gurez Valley and Rajdan Pass in Bandipora district by personnel from 56 RCC.

Simultaneously, 109 RCC led the efforts at Tangdhar and Sadhana Pass in Kupwara district, while 122 RCC undertook cleanliness operations at Sonamarg and Zojila Pass in Ganderbal district.

“All units contributed to a large-scale drive along the roads under their respective jurisdictions. Personnel worked diligently to clean up and maintain the cleanliness of roads frequented by locals and tourists, ensuring safer and cleaner travel routes,” they said.

The tourists were also made aware of keeping the environment clean.

The BRTF, to instill a sense of responsibility among visitors, distributed pamphlets promoting cleanliness to tourists across key locations in the Kashmir Valley.

“The initiative sought to encourage tourists to maintain the beauty of these locations by keeping the environment clean and disposing of waste properly,” they said.

A special ceremony was also held to honor the Safai Karmis (sanitation workers) who play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness of the region

“Their relentless efforts and dedication to keeping the environment clean were recognized with awards and commendations,” they said.

The Swachchata Hi Sewa campaign by HQ 32 BRTF and its allied units highlights the importance of collective efforts in keeping the environment clean and promoting sustainable tourism in the Kashmir Valley.

“This initiative not only fosters a cleaner and healthier environment but also strengthens community participation in safeguarding the natural beauty of the region,” they said.
