New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said India is not going to progress only from Delhi, and states have most important role in India's progress.

Speaking at Hindustan Time Leadership Summit here, Prime Minister Modi said, "India is seen as one of the fastest growing economies in the world, and the states must work hand in hand with the Centre to keep the pace going."

"A stable government is necessary for economic growth and people have done a great job by giving the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) a clear mandate," he said.

The Prime Minister, however, said there was an "atmosphere of disappointment" earlier, but the mandate NDA has got from people was the first step towards change.

He stressed on the need that states have most important role in improving the ease of doing business in India.

Allaying fears over logjam in Parliament, the Prime Minister said, "Parliament is working now, and the credit does not go to Prime Minister Modi, but to all the parties."

The Prime Minister said he also made sure that the India's foreign policy is in tandem with its aspiration of growing into a global power.

He said the development of India's eastern part cannot be ignored, as they are regions with great potential.

"As many as 3,000 villages have been electrified against a target of 1,900 in 100 days by the government, while the pending work on core industry projects, including coal and power industries, has begun and power generation capacity in India is growing annually at 8.5 percent," Prime Minister Modi added.
