CID Jammu nabs absconder wanted in a Fake Indian Currency Notes case

The Counter-Intelligence wing of CID Jammu has arrested a person who was wanted in a Fake Indian currency note case and had been absconding for ten years.

An official spokesman said here on Monday that the CID arrested Hilal Ahmed Bhat of Poshpora, Kupwara, and his father, Mohd Assad Ullah Bhat. They were wanted in a Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) case, registered by Police Station CID (CI), Jammu, and had been absconding for 10 years.

Based on specific, actionable intelligence, the Fugitive Tracking Team of CID (CI) Jammu mounted a swift and well-coordinated operation, leading to his arrest in Jammu.

Following his arrest, the accused was produced before the Court and has been remanded to judicial custody.

The operation once again reaffirms the zero-tolerance approach of CID J&K towards FICN operatives and their ecosystem, the spokesman said adding, “the agency remains firmly committed to tracking fugitives, breaking FICN/terror support structures, and ensuring that no accused involved in FICN/terror-related offences escapes the reach of law.”
