Devyani Rana chairs meeting of school education in Nagrota, Seeks Govt support for flood-hit infrastructure

MLA Nagrota Devyani Rana on Wednesday chaired a comprehensive review meeting of the School Education Department to evaluate education infrastructure and academic performance in government schools across the Nagrota Assembly Constituency, with special focus on institutions damaged in recent floods.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Jammu, Deputy Chief Education Officer (Dy CEO) Jammu, along with principals and heads of government schools from the constituency.

Discussions centred on academic results, staff availability, infrastructure facilities, enrolment trends, and implementation of various government education schemes.

During the review, Rana sought detailed inputs on classroom availability, sanitation, drinking water, electricity supply and digital learning facilities. She also examined issues related to teacher shortages, rationalisation and subject-wise faculty availability in higher secondary schools, stressing the need for their early resolution to ensure smooth academic functioning.

Emphasising that quality education and student welfare remain her top priorities, the MLA urged education officials to work with dedication and accountability to improve learning outcomes. She also called for strengthening monitoring mechanisms to curb dropouts, particularly at the secondary level.

Rana highlighted the importance of co-curricular activities, sports and skill development for the overall growth of students, and encouraged greater engagement with parents, local communities and School Management Committees.

The CEO and Dy CEO assured that the issues raised would be addressed in a phased and time-bound manner. Reaffirming her commitment, Devyani Rana assured full support to the department for upgrading infrastructure, improving academic standards and ensuring better educational opportunities for students in Nagrota.(KINS)
