DGP Requests People For Collaboration To Safeguard Efficient Traffic Management

Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar Monday appealed people to cooperate with the traffic police in ensuring an efficient traffic management in the State. 
He has said that violation of traffic rules involves precious lives and safety of the citizens, besides creating inconvenience for the road users.
Rajendra has said that traffic police, along with other stakeholders has been making rigorous efforts to ensure strict adherence of traffic rules. Various preventive and punitive measures have been put in place to aware the people about safety measures and correct the erring drivers. 
DGP said that special drive was launched to arrest the bad practice of non wearing helmet by the bikers and pillions. Wrong parking and wrong driving has become a habit which causes traffic jams in busy cities and towns, besides on National Highway. He said that during previous months a number of violators have been booked and punished under relevant rules including cancellation of licences and seizure of vehicles. Special awareness lecturers are given to educate the road users on different occasions which have resulted good response. 


The DGP has reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir Police has taken the job as a mission to safe guard people on the roads and minimise road accidents caused by traffic violations. He said that various measures were taken to educate the road users about the consequences of traffic violations. He said that our aim is to save precious lives which are lost in the accidents caused by wrong driving. 
He said that safety of people is our concern and JKP has been adopting various precautionary measures to avoid accidents on the roads which is imperative to ensure compliance of traffic rules and the police is doing a daunting task while ensuring the rules on the roads. He said that wearing of seat belt during driving and action against the use of mobile while driving are the things which have been focussed during the drive, besides drunken driving. 
Rajendra has appealed the people of the State to join hands with traffic police to ensure smooth and secure traffic movement in the State. He has said that people’s cooperation is must to get desired results of the measures taken by traffic cops.(Agencies)
